Alison, our website builder would like to share her story with us :)
What motivated me to work with this organization? I was so worried when I saw the coronavirus outbreak starting in Australia, and realising very few people in Australia had any knowledge on how to protect themselves. From our experience during SARS, we knew that wearing masks and cleaning your house with bleach helps to prevent contracting the disease. My room-mate and I always talked about "wish Aussies knew that wearing a mask is useful". Later I was invited by one of the members to join this amazing group. In here, I met many people that contribute a lot to this project, including sewing masks and organising postage. These people are my role models. Everytime I saw them
putting so much time and effort into making masks or promoting their use, I reminded myself that I should be part of this team and help others.

At the time the Victorian government advised that all Victorian’s must wear masks in public, I found that there was no English website to teach people how to make Hong Kong masks, or to download the pattern. I then proceeded to build the website in 4 days. Thanks to all of our member’s support, the website is finished and provides great tutorial videos, pictures and sewing guidelines. I so pleased this website is able to help others to understand Hong Kong Mask’s advantages, and how to make this amazing product.
We feel more blessed to give than to receive. When I see the appreciation from the person who received the masks and their lovely smiles, I know all the hard work is worth it. I am so glad that this project is helping many people be protect themselves from coronavirus.
If you are interested making the mask, you may also visit the website that I mentioned above: https://www.hongkongmasksaustralia.com/
We hope our community will find this website very useful. Thank you for your hard work, Alison!
